The Historic Stevens Point Opera House

Where history meets your next unforgettable moment.

Our Mission

To serve as a vibrant, historic anchor in the heart of downtown Stevens Point, preserving the building’s legacy as a central community gathering place while hosting high-quality, memorable, and diverse events that stimulate economic and social enrichment for all residents and visitors.

📜 A Legacy of Over 125 Years

The Stevens Point Opera House stands as a testament to the city’s rich cultural and commercial past. Commissioned by one of the city's most prominent merchants, G.F. Andrae, the Opera House became the focus of the social and cultural life of the early city in the late 19th century.

  • **Original Vision:** Designed by the widely known Midwestern theater architect, Oscar Cobb, the building was one of the largest facilities of its kind in Stevens Point in the early 1900s.
  • **Early Uses:** Beyond theatrical performances, the building housed the first facilities for the **Stevens Point Public Library** (starting in 1895) and provided office space for the future Sentry Insurance.
  • **Modern Era:** Today, this historic 125+ year old theater has been meticulously revitalized into a luxury event and wedding venue. We proudly blend the rich local history—including walls of original red city brick and polished maple wood floors—with modern flexibility to accommodate any occasion.
